The following is a list of United States laws that may be cited by various US government agencies depending upon their authority:
Cybercrime definition
Cybercrime is defined by the International Organization for Standardization (www.iso.org) as “criminal activity where services or applications in the cyberspace are used for or are the target of a crime, or where the cyberspace is the source, tool, target or place of a crime”. (ISO 27032 ¶4.18)
Cybersecurity definition
Cybersecurity is defined by the International Organization for Standardization (www.iso.org) as, “preservation of confidentiality, integrity and availability of information in the cyberspace”. In addition, other properties such as, authenticity, accountability, non-repudiation, and reliability may also be included. ( see ISO 27032 ¶4.20) This definition was derived from the prior definition for ‘information security’ provided in ISO 27000 ¶2.19.
